Card of the Month: Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack

It's another month so it's another card we're going to take a closer look on. This meta have been a pain in the ass recently with only two dominant decks fighting for the top, but with constant practice, I can say that with great situation reading, good side deck options and with a little help from luck, you still have a fighting chance to win against Magicals and E-Dragons. Last Saturday, I defeated a Magical deck with my Gadget and proceeded to the semi-finals only to be stopped by my E-Dragons. He had LADD but I usually overrun it with Machina Fortress, but for some reason, I got screwed by the guy below.

Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack
WIND / Machine / Rank 7 / 2600/2200
"Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; Special Summon 2 "Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens" (Machine-Type/WIND/Level 3/ATK 0/DEF 0). While you control a Token, this card cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects. Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 "Mecha Phantom Beast" monster, then target 1 card on the field; destroy that target. This card cannot attack during the turn you activate this effect."

Ever since LTGY was released, the meta shifted to using Rank 7 efficiently like E-Dragons. Right now, I have this mind set that Rank 7 is the best Rank right now in the meta, so I usually build decks that can use Level 7 monsters. Mostly, I prefer decks right now that can utilize the E-Dragons and has easy level 7 monsters with them. I would give the decks that I prefer right now later on.

This guy is one tough card to beat. It has 2600 ATK that can't be overrun by your normal monsters and before you get to destroy it, you have to face his two little minions that gives him protection protection from destruction, but how often do you have 3 monsters on the field with 1 of them being more than 2600 ATK.

The protection from destruction forces us to think of alternative ways to remove it on the field such as banishing it with BLS, or bouncing it, thank YGO God there's CED, or perhaps, the preference of other players by taking it using No 11: Big Eye.

But, Dracossack is not only known for it's ATK or its staying power on the field, it has another effect that allows it to pop 1 card on the field just by sacrificing 1 Mecha Phantom Beast and not being able to attack. This effect can be used as soon as it summons its minions and still leaves 1 token for protection.

Another use of Dracossack is its tokens. This tokens might not be use to Xyz Summon, but it can be used for Synchro Summoning for other big monsters such as Red Dragon Archfiend, Scrap Dragon or perhaps a protection card like Stardust Dragon, or an anti-E-Dragons named Crimson Blader as long as you have a Level 2 Tuner since all those monsters I mentioned are Level 8 Synchro monsters. The tokens can also be used as tributes for the Tribute Summon of a monster like another E-Dragon or, I don't know, perhaps a LADD maybe.

So what Dragossack gives us is a monster that has a big ATK, with staying power and destruction effect. It also adds pressure to the opponent since they know that if they don't have any out to this card, they're gonna have a bad time for the next turns and may end up in a kill costing you the game. Although be careful, since with great power comes great risks. If your opponent manage to Big Eye your Dracossack, you might end up in a different ending than what you expect.

So currently I'm using decks with Level 7 capabilities and I'm liking it, here is a list that I mentioned:

Karakuris ~ It can use Redox and has level 7 in the form of Burei.
Atlantean  ~ It can use Tidal efficiently with Atlantean effects and Poseidra is level 7.
Mermails  ~ Same with Atlanteans but the boss monsters are level 7.
Gadget     ~ You have Fortress and Redox.
Harpies    ~ They can be used for Rank 7s, I've seen it before.
MPBs      ~ Dracossack is an MPB itself.
Hieratics  ~ My current deck, I'll show how it works next time, but I promise it can go for Rank 7.

Some combinations can be used such as Atlantean Mermails or Harpy MPBs for a better output.

Since I have nothing better to do but complete my thesis, I will show all the decks I've been using this month so watch out for them.
