Card of The Month: Grapha, Dragon God of Dark World

First of, Hello and greetings to you all living and non-living things of this planet. I am MasterEM, an aspiring new duelist from a land far, far away. I am not a beginner of this game for I already have played this when I was in primary and secondary school. I've just returned playing after 5 years of being serious with school and stuffs. I used to play a Dragon Deck but now I have changed preferences and have been using what else but Dark World ever since my return.

Anyway, have fun reading this blog and I hope you can also help me to become a better duelist

Okay, to start of this blog, I will introduce this weekly segment called "Card of the Week". And what's the best card to introduce first is of course....

"STAND UP MY AVATAR, GRAPHA, DRAGON GOD OF THE DARK WORLD"
(BTW, that's a Cardfight Vanguard reference)

Why Grapha you might ask? Well, this blog has "Dark World" in its title so might as well use a DW card.

Grapha, Dragon God of Dark World
DARK / Fiend / Level 8 / 2700/1800
"You can Special Summon this card (from your Graveyard) by returning 1 face-up "Dark World" monster you control to the hand, except "Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World". If this card is discarded to the Graveyard by a card effect: Target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy that target, then, if this card was discarded from your hand to your Graveyard by an opponent's card effect, look at 1 random card in your opponent's hand, then, if it was a monster, you can Special Summon it to your side of the field."

Yes, we all know that Grapha is a bitch with a big ass that always comes back and haunts you everytime you send it to the graveyard. It has a whooping 2700 ATK that goes up to 3000 if "Gates of DW" is active on the field. The condition of sending it to the graveyard is an easy task due to its support cards such as Dealings, Gates, Dragged Down and of course, the auto-win called Card Destruction, you get to discard it to the graveyard and you pop 1 card of your opponent. It's an easy summon with Beigge being Special Summonable and of course, it ALWAYS, COMES BACK after being destroyed and sent to the graveyard.

With that stat and effect, it's going to be hard to pass through that big piece of ass.
Sometimes, we try to overpower it with sheer ATK power. We all think that we can hold it at bay by having a bigger monster, but no,....that's just an illusion. Remember its primary effect? It can pop your monster if your opponent has another Grapha in the hand. The chances that your opponent has a Grapha in hand is likely to happen because of DW's natural solitaire way of playing with its drawing capability, so yeah, expect another Grapha.

But wait, it gets better(for the opponent actually). Now that your opponent has another Grapha in the grave, expect that you'll see it anytime soon. By having 2 Graphas on the field you might be thinking..."It's just 2 2700 ATK beatstick, let me call my REDMD with a 2800 ATK and destroy 1 of them and take care of the other later". That is where you're wrong. Grapha has an evolution that is just as evil as Grapha.
Meet No. 22 Fran Ken

Its a Rank 8 4500 ATK monster that can detach Grapha to summon it again only for you to relieve your nightmare. Yes, you might say that if Fran Ken detaches Grapha it'll be in DEF, but DW has another toy called Skill Drain. It allows Fran Ken to detach Grapha and stay in ATK position. So now, your opponent has a Grapha and a Fran Ken, those 2 on the field is a sign for you to return to faith and pray as hard as you can that you're not playing a Dark Game only to feel Fran Ken's fist in your whole body

Some Other Notable Friends of Grapha:

"Trance Archfiend"
Just when you think you banished Grapha, you see this guy and destroy him (not negating him). You were happy but then you realized that Grapha is back in the hand and you've run out of Fissure, Macro and Crow, you meet him again on the field. That sucks right?

"Monster Reborn"
This is another unfair friend of Grapha that I know all of you wants to get hit by the Ban Hammer. Just when your opponent is going to top deck, he drew a destiny draw in the form of Monster Reborn. Well, MR doesn't actually revives Grapha but instead, it revives another DW monster such as Broww or Snoww to have a +1 on field. With this card, your opponent can end up with a Grapha on field and a Broww or Snoww in hand.

Well, I hope you like my 1st post and felt the awesomeness and feared my avatar that is Grapha. Maybe someday I can post my Dark World Build and some other decks that I'm using now that I finally have all the promotional cards of the cursed Fire Fist.

I am well aware that some of you wants Grapha to get hit but, come on, it is not like he's totally immortal. And despite being a scary deck, always remember, if you draw a Venn Diagram of Dark World's winning probability, there is no collision between winning and losing. This is due to Dark World's luck of the draw, a bad hand is a bad hand and a good hand is a good hand. So I pray to you Konami God, not Grapha, not Grapha.
