Dark World - Dragon Slayer Mode

Hello everyone!
I know there's only like at least 2 months until the fall of the magical-dragon meta since the ban hammer is about to come and I hope Konami knows what they're about to do for September.

Anyway, this blog is called MasterEM of DW as seen in the URL of this blog, but the only post I have here that is related to DW is perhaps the first post which is about Grapha, well, that's because when I made this blog, they were irrelevant due to the rise of the Incarnate Dragons and Magicals due to LTGY. But that didn't stop me for trying and trying to fight these two decks. After hours and hours of testing I finally found the close-to-perfect build for DW.

Card of the Month: Verz Ophion

So I've already shown you my Hieroglyph Psychic Silver Dragon of Red Eyes deck and I hope you had fun trying it, although inconsistency exists in the deck due to a higher number of vanilla monsters. I've been using it alongside my revamped Poseidra Turbo 7 deck and Vampire deck in YgoPro for a few days now, I usually go with the name jjangbak or Master in YgoPro since for some reason I can't use MasterEM, so if you see those names, hello to you. While testing my HPSDRE deck, I noticed something, it's gonna be hard to use this in the meta since the third favored deck is Verz and the deck is going to get smooshed by Ophion and never in my life have I ever hated this card for this reason.

Verz Ophion
DARK / Dragon / Rank 4 / 2550/1650
"While this card has Xyz Material, Level 5 or higher monsters cannot be Special Summoned. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; add 1 "Infestation" Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand."

Card of the Month: Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack

It's another month so it's another card we're going to take a closer look on. This meta have been a pain in the ass recently with only two dominant decks fighting for the top, but with constant practice, I can say that with great situation reading, good side deck options and with a little help from luck, you still have a fighting chance to win against Magicals and E-Dragons. Last Saturday, I defeated a Magical deck with my Gadget and proceeded to the semi-finals only to be stopped by my E-Dragons. He had LADD but I usually overrun it with Machina Fortress, but for some reason, I got screwed by the guy below.

Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack
WIND / Machine / Rank 7 / 2600/2200
"Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; Special Summon 2 "Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens" (Machine-Type/WIND/Level 3/ATK 0/DEF 0). While you control a Token, this card cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects. Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 "Mecha Phantom Beast" monster, then target 1 card on the field; destroy that target. This card cannot attack during the turn you activate this effect."

Halloween in July

Halloween came early this year for the OCG part since they're going to be trick-or-treated by the new cutesy archetype, the Ghostricks in the next booster pack, Shadow Specters. Trick-or-treat anyone?

Card of the Month: Necrovalley

With the dominance of 2 powers in the current YGO in the meta, we are forced to main our side deck cards such as Soul & Mental Drain, Imperial Iron Wall, Droll & Lock, and others as well. Well, this month, I chose a card that can also slow down one of the ruling archetypes in the game. It is the main card of one of the oldest archetypes and one of the YGO's history of best anti-meta choice during its time. The crippling card of Marik's blood, the Gravekeepers' field, the Necrovalley.

Necrovalley
Spell / Field
All "Gravekeeper's" monsters gain 500 ATK and DEF. Cards in either player's Graveyard cannot be banished. Negate any card effect that would move a card in the Graveyard, other than itself, to a different place.

dEMOns Like To Cut Themselves

Have you noticed the capital letters in the title? Yes, the word "demon" has "emo" as a substring. No wonder they like to torment people, it's because they like to cut themselves and they want to share the pain and agony they suffer, oh how thoughtful of them.

Base from the word emo alone, you know we're going to talk a lot of cutting, blood and self inflicted pain. And we're not going to talk about emo humans, instead we're gonna discuss demonic emos that have risen and survived the Judgment of the Light. We are going to talk about the the newly supported Archfiends.

Maxx "C", Maxx "C" Everywhere in SD25

Some reprints are already released for the upcoming SD25 for Blue Eyes and I know some of you have already decided to buy 3 of it. Monster Reborn is going to be included in the set along with the oh so tantalizing Fiendish Chain and of course the card that makes you drool, the elusive Maxx "C".

The Judgment of the Light

Judgment of the Light is only days away for its release and I don't have any money to buy it because school is over and I spent all my money on other things.

JOTL will introduce new archetypes such as the main archetype of the set, the War Gods, the Holy Lightnings, Umbrals, and Super Defense Robos. It will also give further supports to Phantom Beast Planes, Fire Fists, Archfiends. But of course, the thing most of us are waiting for are the new Synchro monsters that will released such as PBPs and Fire Fist's brand new Synchros.

First off, the reintroduction of Synchros is a great thing to introduce them to new players. There will be new imba plays that players can use since XYZ are too balanced for me in my opinion.

I've been researching and practicing how War God will affect the current meta and while testing, there'e nothing much they can do but summon Susanoo and pop cards with Murakumo. Also, you must protect Yamato since he's the one that keeps the deck going. And I'm pretty sure people will try to put Bear and Tenki in the deck since Yamato is a Beast-Warrior. I think War Gods will sit this meta down because they kind of lack support so far and Incarnates and Magicals are still the Kings of the meta, but what do I know, there is always that one person that will suddenly think of something brilliant that no one will expect it.

The deck I'm really trying to make work is the Archfiends. It's because I always loved Archfiends ever since GX introduced them. With Trick Archfiend and Genesis Archfiend, they gave new light to this archetype, or perhaps Konami is making this because they still want the TGU engine to live. The way I'm using it, it's more like a virus deck along with Skill Drain because of Genesis. It gives the deck a beatstick and a fighting chance against Magicals but it still has problems fighting those darn Incarnates. Trick Archfiend is also a target of TGU and has a great effect.

The other archetypes may be just like any side archetypes of a booster pack, it's either their too unsupported or some other decks are just better and may get stuck in the fun deck section.

JOTL's most hyped up card may be Transturn. It gives us lot of possibilities for combos and OTKs and swarming power. Also, it allows us to use those useless monsters in our hand to summon the monsters we actually need.

JOTL may try to introduce us new cards and reintroduce the Synchros but it wouldn't guarantee us that the meta will be shifted since Magicals and Incarnates are too imba that I'm already having future visions of the September ban list. Only time will tell if there will be an effect on the game.

Lastly, have you seen Blue Eyed Silver Dragon? A 2500ATK beatstick and a Synchro using 1 tuner + 1 or more non-tuner Normal monsters. It has a revival effect and protection effect when special summoned. I'm more like thinking of using it in a Hieroglyph deck since it has Wattdragon and Luster Dragon and just use Teleport to special Psychic Commander and Synchro Silver Dragon.

Card of The Month: Blaster, the Flame-Incarnate Dragon

Hello everybody! I'm back!
It's been a long time since I've post something new in this blog because nothing much is going on except for the domination of the Incarnate Dragons and the unfair advantage of Magicals.

Anyway, since summer is just around the corner (except for us tropical countries), I decided that the COTM should be as hot as summer. I was choosing between the Flame Stars or the Fire Kings, but since the Incarnates are the current dominant force, I finalized that the COTM should be none other but their very own generic Pyrorex, Blaster, the Flame-Incarnate Dragon

Blaster, the Flame-Incarnate Dragon
FIRE / Dragon / Level 7 / 2800/1800
"You can banish 2 Dragon-Type and/or FIRE monsters from hand or Graveyard, except this card; Special Summon this card from your hand or Graveyard. During your opponent's End Phase, if this card was Special Summoned: Return it to the hand. You can discard this card and 1 other FIRE monster to the Graveyard to target 1 card on the field; destroy that target. If this card is banished; you can add 1 FIRE Dragon-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only use 1 "Blaster, the Flame-Incarnate Dragon" effect per turn, and only once that turn."

Price Tag

This time, let's not talk about cards, rather, let's talk about money stuffs and bulls.

As we all know, YGO is a very expensive vice and hobby to maintain due to the price of very powerful, rare, and limited printed cards such as the promos and also TGU and also expensive tier decks, such as Mermails, Magicals, and of course the Incarante Dragons.

Let's look at some of the reasons why YGO is expensive:

Release the Kraken!!!!

No, we're not going to release the Kraken, rather we're gonna release the almighty king of Atlantis, the Atlantean Dragon King Poseidra.

With the release of LTGY, Atlantean Emperor Tridon was released giving Poseidra light and hope to come out of people's binders and see the light of day. I admit I am one of those people who were a Poseidra fan and tried everything to make it work, and now I got my wish. Thank you Konami for bringing us this cute serpent.

Hello March Goodbye Windups

Wooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh! It's March, I'm sorry for the late greeting, it's because I've been caught up in this online game I'm playing.

So what does the new format have for us except for the lost of Windups. So far, there are 4 decks that are above all else or somewhat stirring up the pressure on the minds of many duelist.

  • Flaming Stars
  • Verz
  • Magicals
  • Mermails
Those 4 are mainly the powerforce of the current YGO(atleast in my perspective). Three of them have already shown their capabilities why they are a force to be reckoned with and the other one is gathering interests from a lot of players because of its new gotten spell support.

Card of The Month: Dimensional Fissure

Sorry it's a bit late but here it is anyway, our 3rd CoTW, Dimensional Fissure.

Now, why Dimensional Fissure? That's because my Dark World hates it so much. But why Dimensional Fissure instead of Macro Cosmos? I'll explain that later, but first let's look at the card.

Dimensional Fissure
Spell / Continuous
"Any monster sent to the Graveyard is banished instead."

Tournament Report: 13/02/23

I just returned to full thinking capabilities and here to write what happened to me yesterday at the Philippines' Asian Qualifier. It was a Swiss Round of 7 so yeah, that is pretty long. I decided to use my Dark World Deck instead of going for my Heroic or Heraldry Beast Deck (I'm pretty much into building builds for under appreciated decks), but this time, I didn't main my Sillva and used Tragodeia in its place.

Preparation to Battle

I am now ready for Philippines' Qualifiers this coming Saturday and I'm still picking a deck to use in the tournament. I don't know if I'm going to go with my usual Dark World or I'm just gonna go and have fun and look at my opponents' faces when they learn that I'm using a Heroic Deck.

Anyway, here are the decks I'm expecting to see in the tournament:

Mermail ~ Why Mermail? Because there are actually people who completed this damn to hell expensive         deck and I know they are going to flaunt it. Another reason is because I'm going to lend my Armored Kappa for a BlackShip. Also, in  my estimate, there are only at most 4 people who owns an Armored Kappa in the Philippines (I'm one of them :D)

Mainsprings ~ Because I know for sure one of the players will use his Wind-Up before March.

Gadgets ~ This is our country's prostitute deck. It is cheap but strong. Great for those who are low on budget.

Machiners ~ Because Gadget exists.

Geargia ~ Because my brother is there and he's been practicing Geargia now that he has GeargiaGear.

Fire Kings ~ I know one of the duelist in our country has a Yaksha and I saw him use it in weekly tournaments so I'm still preparing.

Flame Stars ~ It's the current trend so what more can I say. And my youngest brother is going to use it now that we are among those who has completed the deck with it's promo cards.

Lightlords ~ Because for some unknown reason there is always a lucky Lightlord player that always gets on top.

Dark World ~ Not because I'm there, it's because there are actually a lot of Dark World players out there.

Six Warmen ~ Because everytime I look at people's deck checks, I see a samurai player.

I'm not expecting PBPs and Harpie yet. PBPs doesn't have a standard build yet and people are still looking for Harpie Dancer.

Card of the Month: Sangan

I bet everyone was surprised by the March Ban List due to it not hitting much and being a short one at that. I know we were all expecting to see Konami splash acid on Wind-ups' retarded face and yes, we had our wish everyone so congratulations!!! No more retard as fug Wind-ups.

Now, we know that Wind-ups were the only one hit in this ban list by completely banning Zenmighty and limiting WU Magician, but it also killed one of the most expensive engine in the game, the TGU + Sangan engine. So, with the banning of Sangan for the March format, what will happen now that one the greatest and abused searcher is gone and is now back in the arms of his beloved spouse(Witch of the Black Forest) in the Ban Zone of YGO.

For this week, our Card of the Week is none other than the great Sangan

Sangan
DARK / Fiend / Level 3 / 1000/600
"When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: Add 1 monster with 1500 or less ATK from your Deck to your hand."

Lord of Tachyon Galaxy: The Last Airbender

"Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished."

Card of The Month: Grapha, Dragon God of Dark World

First of, Hello and greetings to you all living and non-living things of this planet. I am MasterEM, an aspiring new duelist from a land far, far away. I am not a beginner of this game for I already have played this when I was in primary and secondary school. I've just returned playing after 5 years of being serious with school and stuffs. I used to play a Dragon Deck but now I have changed preferences and have been using what else but Dark World ever since my return.

Anyway, have fun reading this blog and I hope you can also help me to become a better duelist

Okay, to start of this blog, I will introduce this weekly segment called "Card of the Week". And what's the best card to introduce first is of course....

"STAND UP MY AVATAR, GRAPHA, DRAGON GOD OF THE DARK WORLD"
(BTW, that's a Cardfight Vanguard reference)

Why Grapha you might ask? Well, this blog has "Dark World" in its title so might as well use a DW card.

Grapha, Dragon God of Dark World
DARK / Fiend / Level 8 / 2700/1800
"You can Special Summon this card (from your Graveyard) by returning 1 face-up "Dark World" monster you control to the hand, except "Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World". If this card is discarded to the Graveyard by a card effect: Target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy that target, then, if this card was discarded from your hand to your Graveyard by an opponent's card effect, look at 1 random card in your opponent's hand, then, if it was a monster, you can Special Summon it to your side of the field."
